Eagle Eye (Minor Fieldtrip at PSSCC)

Field Trip Overview:

Minor Field trip is part of our subject FTS or Fieldtrip and Seminars. We were very happy because we had the opportunity to visit PSCC or Public Safety Command Center in Davao City. PSCC is a government institution in Davao City that gives information to monitor the accidents and floods in Davao. A camera is installed in the different traffic lights in the city.  PSCC gives us warm welcome and showed us their technologies.
Davao City is considered as the nerve center of the Southern Philippines in the Mindanao Region. Mayor Sara Duterte together with her constituents aims to have a smarter city. That’s why she was able to collaborate with IBM to contribute to the City’s vision to be a premier socio-economic tourism in Mindanao. Also, to and enhance the management of Davao’s four pillars of public safety: crime prevention and suppression; emergency response; threat prevention and response; and traffic management.

Activity
What I learned?
`           I learned that in Davao City there are many cameras installed in every intersection in Davao City. From that, I am now aware of j-walking and I should follow the rules and regulation of Davao City to have a smarter City.
What I like?
I like it that Davao City improved in terms of security because as we all know Davao City is prone to bomb threats. I like their technologies because compared to MMDA, PSCC is very different because of their high-tech technologies.

What I didn’t like?

I didn’t like the videos that they’ve showed us. It’s about the accidents happened in the city.

Recommendations

I recommend that the next batch will have their minor fieldtrip in PSSCC because it was very informative and you can really learn new things. I also suggest that they will have an interpersonal skill like ours because we know each other and even if they will assign us to other groups we are still comfortable.
