  Fast Food Chains

Fast food is a term given to food that can be served in a short period of time. That’s why it floods with many fervent customers around the city. In order for the fast food chains to serve their customers quickly they should have technologies to help them and make their life easy and to provide and improve their products with accuracy. Nowadays, there are lots of fast food chains in the Philippines. In fact, in Davao city there are many famous fast food chains that would truly achieve your satisfaction.

In our Techno subject, we were tasked to observe fast food chains around the conurbation and think for a new technology that can solve the problem. Last June 26, 2012, we went to Abreeza Mall to observe technologies existing in fast food chains. While we were meandering around the shopping mall, there were countless fast food chains.

We went to McDonalds, there cash register machines were modernized. I think all of the cash registers in Abreeza were modern. Anyway, in McDonalds they have a drinking fountain. In the past few years they will just give a bottle of water in every table but now, with just stamping your feet you can now have a glass of water. You can now drink water without spilling it out and it is also very helpful to the environment because you will be able to conserve water. In addition, we also went to the Abreeza food court, the technologies there were also common. There’s nothing new. But overall, I liked to stay there because there were lots of fast food chains to choose from. Also, it was very convenient to the customers and it allows you to breathe fresh air.

We also went to KFC, I liked their place because it is unique for the reason that it has a charging station, which is good for customers who wants to charge their cell phones while enjoying their food. But the security of their phones is their responsibility. I liked the minnie T.V. beside the cash register because it really calls your attention to buy their products. Last June 30, 2012 together with my family, we went to mandarin also in Abreeza. There are many customers eating there because their foods are delicious. If you already have a seat inside, you will have to call the waiter to give you a menu because they are very busy serving others and after you eat, you will look for a waiter again to ask if how much will you going to pay.

While I am observing, I am constructing a new technology that will help the customers do things effortlessly to make their lives easy. Honestly, I was getting hard time to create a new innovation. However, knowing the problems of the establishments will help me construct a new equipment like calling the waiter to give customers the menu and will call them to pay the bill. Hypothetically, I will make a modern and a high tech table and I will name it as “Automated Table Machine”. It’s just a simple table with awesome characteristics. It can detect if there is a customer and it has a monitor beside it to see the menu. If you will click any viand you will see the food in bigger size and it is very mouth watering. This will help the fast food chains to advertise their products without compensating a large amount of money.

In McDonalds and Greenwich, I scrutinized extensive lines of costumers waiting to be accommodated by the convivial cashiers. It is very exhausting to stand until you reach the cashier. There is a big possibility that the costumer will look for another fast food chain that’s why I am thinking and making the gears of my brain move to create a great technology and I will name it “Automated Numbering Machine” it is a technology wherein the customer will have an automatic number whenever they will enter the fast food chain. If they’ve already look for a seat they will just sit and wait for their number to be called. I also fabricated a new technology and I will name it as “Vacant Seat Machine” it is a technology wherein the customer will just come across the entrance of the fast food chain and they will automatically see if there are still vacant seats available. It is very useful especially for customers who are saving time and effort because they will no longer go inside and sometimes it’s kinda awkward to go inside then you will go outside without ordering.

Technologies often come with unexpected and superfluous consequences conquering the very objective of the technology. For me, I think that it depends on how we make use of the new innovations. We should be aware of technology’s role and we should be responsible in every move that we make.


Shopping Malls

Every person always comes up a new idea to improve technology which helps every individual to develop standards of living. I can say that our world has been progressively changed from one condition to another. There are so many products from simple ideas that help people make living better. In our country especially in Davao City, technology plays a vital role for the improvement of banks, hospitals, houses, schools and other establishments and also to make our life easy.

In Davao City, there are lots of huge malls and they are nothing without technologies. Last June 26, 2012 we went to Abreeza mall of Davao to observe their technologies inside. It’s a three-storey shopping mall and it’s just one of Davao's many attractions to discover. It’s very different from other malls in Davao City even the environment outside the mall. I can say that compared to other malls here in Davao City, Abreeza is the modern version because of its technologies inside. We were so astonished when we went to Abreeza Mall because there were so many things that we cannot see in Gaisano, Victoria, SM, Robinsons, etc. If you will come into the newest mall in Davao you will notice that the sliding glass will automatically open if there is someone who will go close to it. Also, there is a human scanner which detects if someone is bringing something which is not allowed inside the mall. In addition, I like the idea that there escalator will automatically run slowly if nobody will not use it. Also, it has a sign beside it for costumers to see if the escalator is for going down or vice versa. It really helps the costumer to prevent them from accidents especially for children. Also, we saw a charging station in every floors of the building which is good and very useful for costumers but the security of there own phone is there responsibility. Next, we went to there comfort room and compared to some malls it was very clean and very comfy. It’s like a comfort room in a five star hotel. Even though there are thousands of costumers who visit the mall they still manage to keep there C.R clean and fresh. The toilet has a mini shower head beside it that you can use if you are done releasing your stress which is cool. In addition, we saw a digital directory, we were stunned because its high tech, user friendly, touch screen and help the costumers look for the place they want to go inside the mall. We also went to the Abreeza Cinema, we didn’t watch a movie but we were just observing outside. Actually, I already watched a movie inside the cinema and inside you have already a reserved seat. I liked it because in other malls, you will just go inside the cinema without knowing that the seats are already occupied and you have no choice but to wait for others to evacuate from their seats. The seats are very comfy and you can surely enjoy the movie you are watching. We also went to Victoria Plaza and Gaisano Mall. I just saw the simplest form of technology.

While we were observing, I saw there baggage counter. It is not that big and to think there are thousands of visitors everyday. I think it is not enough to cater all costumers inside the mall. Also you cannot assure if the baggage keeper will not get some of your stuffs inside your baggage. As a consumer, there is a tendency that you will have lots of bags to carry that you cannot afford to carry all of them while you are buying things. Its very hassle and you cannot concentrate looking for things to buy because you are also securing your stuffs. Also, I am thinking of the assurance that there is no bomb, guns or other stuffs that is not allowed inside the mall.

If I will be given a chance to improve it, I will use a bigger space for it and invent a baggage counter that will scan the luggage before keeping it and make sure that the personal belongings of the costumer is safe and harmless and I will name it as “Baggage Scanner Security Counter” or BSSC. It is very easy and safe to use. First, the costumer will just swipe their valid I.D in the machine near the counter. After swiping, a metallic box will automatically appear then you will put your baggage and the machine will automatically scan your stuffs without human intervention. In addition, if your baggage is successfully scanned and if you have some things that are not allowed inside the mall it will alarm. After the scanning process, you can now concentrate and enjoy your shopping. If you’re already done shopping you can now get your baggage by swiping your valid ID and the box will now appear and you can now get you belongings with an assurance that you baggage are complete and safe.

In a huge mall, there is a big possibility that parents will lost their child because they are busy looking for stuffs to buy. That’s why I come up with an idea to create a technology named “Customer Service Monitor” it is a technology that will help parents look for their child. They will just go to the customer service representative and ask for assistance. It is very user-friendly technology. You will just click the “on” button then you will face the webcam afterward you will to be seen by the customers inside the mall because in every corners of the mall there is a LCD monitor. By this, you can describe your child or put the picture of your child in front the webcam so that the customers will see it.

Also, I fabricated a new technology and I will call it “Automated Cart Machine”. Carts in the shopping malls have a calculator in it but what if the customers have a problem in sight? They might press a wrong amount. In this technology you will just scan your desired products then put it inside the cart at that time it will automatically calculate all of them. It has no button, you will just scan everything. Brilliant, isn’t it?

Home is a place where we feel safe and sound when we sense danger elsewhere. It is a place where you are comfortable to live. In order for us to feel stress-free and to make our lives easy we tend to buy furniture and technologies. Modernization starts through houses to have an easy life. Technology really solves many problems and it makes our life easy. It helps us to do things in a short period of time effortlessly. In this present era, many of us are very happy especially our mommies to have technologies inside the house to help us in our daily routine.

Our house is very simple. It is well-furnished, very airy and ventilated. We are not rich but we have some common technologies that will truly help us in our daily life. Every family member in our family has a responsible to do everyday, my father and mother are working for us to live and my siblings and I are studying in our respective schools. Everyday nobody will watch our house from appalling people. But we have four dogs to guard our house however there’s still no assurance in the security of our house. We have a simple door with a simple door knob and a chain lock. We all know that a house is a place where in we can live and store personal property. Nowadays, there are lots of thieves and they will do everything just to have money, even if it’s not a good way. In connection to this, I am thinking of a solution for us to be comfortable whenever we will evaporate. So, I come up with an idea to create a high tech door. I will name it as “Security Scanning Door”. It is a simple door made of wood with numerous specifications that will help us in the security of our home. It has a censoring machine that will check every person who will enter our house using our thumbs. Every person who is authorized to go inside the house should register in the machine to check the validity of the person who wants to go inside our house. If we have visitors you will just press the visitor button then to validate it we will touch the machine using our thumb for them to go inside. In addition, if the visitor will enter, the machine will automatically scan the person who entered if he has some bombs or guns with him. Also, if we are inside our house and if someone knocked the door, there is a small hole that helps us see who tap it.

We all know that our house is not just for family members. It is also a place where we celebrate parties and as a Filipino it’s a place where we invite friends or relatives to have fun and enjoy life. Last week is our cousin’s birthday. So, we went to their house. They served us different kinds food and they entertained with their karaoke. That time, I have no load and I have to contact my mother that I am already in their house. So I called them using a telephone. By that, I conceptualize a new technology. I will name it as “Face-to-Face Monitor Telephone”. It will let you see the person you are communicating with. This technology, will help distinguish if you are really talking to the person you want to communicate. It has phonebook that will store your contact numbers. You can also text using this technology. If you are bored, you can play with the games installed in this technology. Our cousin’s house is very near to our grandparent’s house. So, I take hold of the chance to visit them. My lola was watching a teleserye and my lolo was sleeping. I noticed that my grandmother will exert more effort in plugging and unplugging the wire of the television. So it helped me formulate a new technology and I will name it as “Wireless T.V”. Obviously, it is a television without a plug or a wire to connect in the socket. Its flat screen and it can be used using a battery and it is chargeable. It is very handy and you can place it anywhere. It’s not just a simple television because it can also be a radio. You will just switch it to FM then in just one click you can now listen to different kinds of music. In addition, if you have stored your favorite music in your usb you can plug it beside it. You can alos play your videos using your usb. Cool. Isn’t it?

I can say that as the time goes by, we will encounter new technologies. Let’s be cautious and use these technologies in a good way. So, let us not stop creating and thinking for a new technology because all of us are gifted with talented and artistic minds. Hypothetically speaking, “Security Scanning door”, “Face-to-Face Monitor Telephone”, “Wireless T.V” was constructed through my imagination. If ever someone will make this to reality I’ll be very happy and very thankful to them. This will really help us in many ways and for the betterment of everybody. Well, our house indicates the simplicity of our family. It is a place of peace, comfort and love. For me, if we have no technologies inside our house, it’s okay, as long as I have my family and a place to live, I feel complete.
